Meet at Muscat Airport and drive inland past Birkat Al Mouz, with its date gardens and falaj channel, then climb by 4x4 to the Saiq Plateau on Jebel Akhdar. Overnight on Jebel Akhdar.
A gentle guided walk through the terraced villages of Al Ayn, Al Aqr and Ash Shirayjah, where roses, pomegranates and walnuts grow on the canyon edge. Visit the abandoned village of Wadi Bani Habib and catch sunset at a canyon viewpoint. Overnight on Jebel Akhdar.
Drive down to Nizwa to climb the round tower of Nizwa Fort and browse the souq (on Fridays, see the lively goat market). Continue to Misfat Al Abriyeen, a mud-brick village above palm groves fed by falaj channels. Overnight on Jebel Akhdar.
After breakfast, drive back to Muscat Airport (about 2.5 hours) for your flight home.
Season: Roses bloom and rosewater is distilled from about March to May; pomegranates ripen in August–September. Evenings can be cold in winter — bring a warm layer.
